It's been quite awhile, huh? Last update was... Oh my god. August 2024?
Well, rest assured, we have been cooking since then. Well, as much as I
can alone. Now then, let's get straight into it!
- Development Status -
Regarding development, there's been a bit of progress.
- Engine Progress-
In the time that I've been working on World Engine (the engine for my
two projects), I've used it to create the actual DELTARUNE: Prophecy
Retold project file. However, this doesn't mean the engine is done yet.
Far from it. I feel like it'd be easier to create the engine with new UIs,}
rather than trying to accurately replicate the exact feel of Deltarune.
That doesn't mean that World Engine isn't coming, however. It's just on hold at the moment.
- Writing Progress-
We've done quite a bit of writing. I worked on a scene for Chapter 5,
which reveals a dark secret about Uffi. I'll tell more later.
For now, have a look at the old legend cutscene.
- Art Progress -
We've reworked Uffi's Dark World design to resemble his old sprites
from late 2022. Below is what he'll look like in the Dark World from now
on.
Still the same personality, as showcased in the May 2024 devlog. Pretty
much the exact same character, with a different design.
- Concept Art -
We've done quite a bit of writing. I worked on a scene for Chapter 5, which reveals a dark secret about Uffi. I'll tell more later.

- Chapter 5 Cutscene -
I've made some old concept art over the past several months, some of which I'm willing to showcase.
Sort of a shitpost, but is actually fleshed out in the story document.
- Overall Update -
Overall, we've been doing quite well. Mainly just me (swidev) working
on the game, but there has been some help with promotional material.
- Idea Talk -
I have some ideas for what I could do in the game, but I don't have any
artwork for it. So, I'll share it here.
- Battle Animations -
I'm thinking we could do something similar to the Mario & Luigi games,
where characters have a sort of dancing idle animation like Mario &
Luigi have. Possibly an animation for when it's the character's turn,
and one for when it isn't.
- Battle Reactions -
Characters could hypothetically react to other characters in battle,
like when they attack. Maybe Ralsei could look worried when Susie's
attacking Darkners? Or maybe Uffi could do a fist pump when they
attack an enemy? It would be a lot of work to code, but would make for
cool interactions.
- Soul Combos -
I've had this idea since DELTARUNE: Reimagining's development.
What if there was a system similar to that of the badge system in
Mario & Luigi games?
It would likely use the souls of human characters present in your
party. A max of two souls would be usable, meaning if you had Kris &
Uffi, there'd be a certain effect revolving around their soul traits.
For example, Kris' would let you heal all party members by... 30-35 HP?
Let's say you want to use Uffi's soul. It would possibly let a party
member have a turn when they're downed, before they collapse again.
Hypothetically, for a Justice soul, depending on the situation, it could
boost the user's damage by a few points, or just increase the
effectiveness of their ACTs.
These are all just thoughts, though.
- Conclusion -
Overrall, I'd say we've done quite well! At least, for a very small team.
